Star Walnut is the Tama galaxy's third star in the absolute highest premium class. Walnut has natural eq with extra top and bottom registers which gives a sound character with a lot of warmth. Tama has managed these characteristics and created a series of drums with thin and stable bodies that have nice attack and fat bottom. The sound feels familiar with an ounce of the birch's attack combined with the more diffuse warmth of maple bodies.
Star Walnut has the same hardware as Star Maple and Star Bubinga but not the Sound Focus Ring or the inlay option, which is also reflected in a lower price. On the other hand, Walnut has the same STAR Bearingedge chamfer and is therefore just as easy to stem as all the Star variants. In short, a third aspirant for the title "World's best drum set", "World's most easily tuned drum set"...

Before the Tama Star project, they looked at all the parts of the drum set and asked themselves the question, can we make it better, what could complement the already legendary Starclassic? After years of testing, Star emerged where all parts, from the bass drum, rear suspension and frames, received a fundamental upgrade. Star is offered in three variants, Bubinga, Maple and Walnut, all with thin bodies that breathe Vintage and are made with the most modern craftsmanship and precision. The playing feel is wonderful and the dynamics respond to the slightest impulse.
The inside of the frame is oiled and the chamfering of the drumsticks has a slightly larger counter-chamfer of 3.5mm so that the drum head lies optimally against the frame. The Super Resonant Mounting System snare suspension affects the frame minimally so that the sound of the drum blossoms to its full potential. In addition, Tama has designed an ingenious puck holder bracket that also serves as a memory lock. The mount is surrounded by rubber bushings to prevent the drum's resonance from going out into the drum arm or interfering with the other drums. The floor puck legs also have the same mounts and the legs have new rubber feet that allow the floor puck to float for the best sound and playing feel.
The bass drum legs are made in two pieces that are joined together with a rubber bushing so that the base of the bass drum also has a floating suspension.
