SR5005-OL (Oil) Elbas Soundgear Prestige, 5-string. Made in Japan.
The SR5000 series is top of the line in the SR series and these are basses where nothing has been spared, from wood choices, mechanics to pickups and preamps/EQ systems, everything is of the highest class. Instruments that are a joy to both look at and play, and even more, listen to.
The pickups are USA made Bartolini, designed by Bill Bartolini and hand made specifically for the SR5000 basses. The pickups are dual coil designs in soapbar form and are available in several different versions, for example arched that follows the radius of the neck or flat top. The neck pickup is designed to have a fat deep tone without being indistinct and unfocused and the bridge pickup to be treble penetrating without being thin or lacking in bass. A very wide pickup configuration. Mics of the absolute highest class. The Prestige series has a custom-designed active EQ system made specifically for the bass. The EQ can be switched on or off so that you can completely bypass the entire EQ system and get the mics directly to the output jack with a small on/off toggle switch. The EQ system consists of 4 pots, a +/- 12db boost/cut for the bass, a +/- 12db boost/cut for the treble and adjustable Q value and a +/- 12db boost/cut for the all-important midrange. Everything has a common volume and a pot for balance between neck and bridge mic.
The bridge is an updated version of the Ibanez Mono-Rail, now called the V. What has been updated are adjustment possibilities, greater scope for intonation (gold for those who want to tune down with thick strings) and greater scope for setup. It is also significantly easier to manage and adjust. Staller is designed to isolate the strings from each other. The insulation provides optimal transmission of the string's vibrations down into the body without the strings affecting each other. A stable and very easily adjusted stable.
The neck is reinforced with KTS™ titanium reinforcement, two rods that lie parallel to the truss rod and stabilize the neck. It makes the neck less sensitive to changes in humidity and the neck less likely to twist or get a hump at 12 frets. The rods also help eliminate dead notes that occur from/from the neck self-oscillating.
The SR is probably the bass model most people think of when someone says "Ibanez bass" and for around 25 years it has been the market-leading model among "small body" basses (basses with smaller, slimmer bodies). These are lightweight, easy-to-play basses that are extremely comfortable to wear and play, perfect for people who play a lot or play long sessions. SR is available in versions from cheap entry-level basses to absolute worst basses and everything in between, whatever price range you want to be in, there is an SR base for you. They are also available in several different woods and pickup configurations.
