RGT1220PB-ABS (Antique Brown Stained) Premium neck-thru.
The Best Premium RG Ever! Premium is a series of guitars and basses in the Ibanez range that lies on the borderland between the Prestige and the standard series. The series can best be described as wanting to build a top quality instrument in a cheaper manufacturing country, all to keep the price tag down for the end consumer. With the Premium instruments you get amazing quality for the money you pay, both sound and playability are of the highest quality. Details such as the fitting of the neck pocket, shielding of the control space, band sanding, etc. are absolutely top class. More "guitar for the money" an Ibanez series has never been. Simply Premium guitars.
The RG1220PB has a body made of American Basswood (Lind), which is a fairly light wood with an even frequency response across the entire register. This makes it a wood that, in terms of sound, is easy to color in many different directions and get many different kinds of sounds out of it. The even frequency reproduction also makes it very suitable for distorted sounds, it glues the sound together nicely without it being either scattered or indistinct.
The top is made of Burl poplar, an exciting type of wood that looks very different between different pieces, no two guitars look exactly alike.
The neck is a 7-part construction of Maple and Walnut, throughout, which provides an extra stable construction. The neck profile is Ibanez's classic Wizard III profile.
The fretboard has been equipped with Jumbo Stainless frets, which are significantly harder than normal frets, which means that it wears extremely much slower than standard frets. They also retain their smooth, compliant, "freshly polished ribbon" feel much longer than regular ribbons. If you don't play extremely much and tour constantly, they will last a lifetime. They are not inexhaustible, but pretty close.
The neck has also been fitted with side dots by Luminlay, luminescent band markings. A godsend on dark stages.
The RG1220PB features an Ibanez Wizard III neck profile. Wizard can most simply be described as a slightly thicker Super Wizard neck. It has the same flat fingerboard (400mmR), the same width and the same smooth-grinding band as the Super Wizard but is slightly thicker. A neck for those who want what Ibanez is known for, an extremely fast and easy-to-play neck, but want a little more wood in their hand.
