BTB7MS-NML Natural Mocha Low Gloss Ibanez Bass Workshop. 7-string Multi-scale.
The BTB series can best be described as series-produced boutique basses, extremely good-sounding and well-balanced instruments. The neck's slightly longer scale means that the basses are perfect for the low B, and get a completely different punch and firmness from the slightly longer scale.
Sued 1F-2C-3G-4D-5A-6E-7B.
The difference of 2.5 cm (1") may not look like much on paper, and it doesn't feel like much to play, but the difference in tone is big. The notes get a completely different springiness, tightness and articulation than on a shorter scale. Especially on low notes, the difference is really worth the little extra stretching of the fingers. The long upper horn means that the bass, despite its slightly longer neck, is perfectly balanced whether you are sitting or standing up and playing.
If you play 5a, 6a or tune down, the longer scale is something you just have to try, you will definitely not regret it. The pickups are Bartolini® BH2, balanced clear, warm dual-coil pickups with a firm and tight bass and a full and open midrange. The bridge is the Ibanez Mono-Rail V, a bridge designed to isolate the strings from each other. The insulation provides optimal transmission of the string's vibrations down into the body without the strings affecting each other. A stable and very easily adjusted stable.
The BTB7MS is a bass equipped with fanned frets, which is a method of being able to have different scales on different strings, a so-called multi-scale fingerboard. This is done, among other things, to get optimal scale length for all strings. Low strings sound significantly better, firmer, tighter and more stun, with a longer scale while the thin strings become hard, plonky and very difficult to play with as long a scale as the low strings need. Fanned frets, multi-scale, are the solution to this, tight and stable low notes and highs with maintained snap and warmth.
