This hi-hat designed by Akira Jimbo has a slightly odd size, this to combine the control of a 13" but the power of a 14" hi-hat.
The undercap is a variant of Zildjian's MasterSound but with wider pleats to provide a larger contact surface between undercap and overcap. It gives a darker & warmer chick and wash than with the traditional MasterSound shape. Just like all other models in the Hybrid series, this one has a turned surface in a natural finish and an unturned surface in a brilliant finish. This gives a cymbal with a sound you basically recognize as the classic K Custom sound but adds additional projection and top and that you have two different surfaces to play on which when played with the grape gives notes of a completely different character.
As always with Zildjian, this series is of course also suitable to mix into a set of cymbals from one of Zildjian's other series to broaden your sound palette and to be able to color the songs and your playing with interesting and stylish sounds.
