The SR is probably the bass model most people think of when someone says "Ibanez bass" and for around 30 years it has been the market-leading model among "small body" basses (basses with smaller, slimmer bodies). These are lightweight, easy-to-play basses that are extremely comfortable to wear and play, perfect for people who play a lot or play long sessions. SR is available in versions from cheap entry-level basses (GSR) to absolute worst basses (Prestige) and everything in between, whatever price range you want to be in, there is an SR base for you. They are also available in several different woods and pickup configurations.
The pickups are Nordstrand™ soapbar style, single coil pickups with a big and powerful "full-body" sound without losing the clarity of a single coil. Preamp and EQ system is calibrated for the Nordstrand™ pickups and is equipped with a bypass switch. It consists of a boost/cut for bass frequencies, a boost/cut for treble. The important midrange has a boost/cut pot and a switch that moves where the knob works, 250, 450 or 600Hz). Common volume and pot for pickup balance.
The bridge is the Ibanez Mono-Rail V, a bridge designed to isolate the strings from each other. The insulation provides optimal transmission of the string's vibrations down into the body without the strings affecting each other. A stable and very easily adjusted stable.
The neck is reinforced with KTS™ titanium reinforcement, two rods that lie parallel to the truss rod and stabilize the neck. It makes the neck less sensitive to changes in humidity and the wood less prone to twisting or getting a hump at 12 frets.
The rods also help eliminate dead notes that occur from/from the neck self-oscillating.
