Artisan Edition Doumbeks are handmade in Egypt. Made of aluminum with synthetic leather, decorated with mosaic art and with pearl inlays. Outstanding quality and sound. Meinl Artisan Doumbek has a rich, deep base with nice, ringing high notes. Doumbek originates mainly from Egypt, but is also often used in music from the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and Eastern Europe. The main difference between a Darbuka and a Doumbek is how the skin is attached and how it is tuned. Doumbek has a more rounded shape, while Darbuka has a more traditional type of vibe.
