The ARP 2600 can be said to be the most iconic and distinctive synth ever. Used on countless records, films, TV shows and video game soundtracks since its introduction in the 70s, it is still an indispensable part of the music landscape today.
The new ARP 2600 M brings you the sound that captivated an entire world in a more compact and portable format and with extra features that make it the ideal incarnation of a historic synthesizer.
When the ARP 2600 FS was released in January 2020, it quickly became a phenomenal success with musicians worldwide, who immediately recognized it as a faithful reproduction of the original. The ARP 2600 M is approximately 60% of the original size, lighter, more portable and easier to place and use in a studio. It integrates the same analog circuits and components as the ARP 2600 FS, thus reproducing the characteristic ARP sound.
Built in Japan with the same care and superb quality as the ARP 2600 FS, the ARP 2600 M uses the same analog components to recreate the feel of the original. The spring reverb has been redesigned and resized for the new chassis for the same sumptuous effect. The ARP 2600 M comes with a custom case that not only protects your instrument, but also makes it easier to transport, thanks to the special wheels with built-in shock absorption. There's also enough room to carry other gear, like your favorite Volca, SQ-64, or MIDI controller.
The ARP 2600 M is more than a synthesizer, rather a complete sound design studio. Even today, the ARP 2600 stands as a bridge between the individual elements of modular synthesis and the speed of a live instrument. In addition to a host of oscillators, envelopes, filters and an amplifier, the ARP 2600 adds a spring reverb and even a pair of built-in speakers.
You'll also find much of the versatility of a classic modular system, including a ring modulator, lag, and voltage processors, an envelope follower, audio preamp, clockable switch, noise source, a sample-and-hold module, signal inverter, an auxiliary mixer, and more and with a set of multi-jacks.
In addition, you get a set of new functions that will make your synth even easier to use.
Plug and play:
Connect any class compliant MIDI controller, such as KORG microKeys, nanoKeys, or SQ-64, to one of the ARP's USB ports (USB-A and USB-B), and get instant control over the instrument!
Resizing:
The new size makes it easier to visualize your patch and also allows you to use shorter cables.
Two types of filters from two versions of the original ARP 2600 (type 4012 and type 4072); YOUR MIDI IN; Pitch-bend, modulation, portamento ON/OFF can be controlled with MIDI CC (USB or DIN)
The threshold for the trigger signal that activates the ADSR through the gate jack has been lowered from 10V to 5V, making it much easier to combine the ARP 2600 M with other equipment such as Volca and Eurorack modules.
Attack and Release time ration has been improved.
Instead of XLR, there are now L/R stereo output jacks. The speakers are automatically turned off when you plug in headphones.
Smoother, improved sliders.
To celebrate the rebirth of this iconic synth, the first 1000 copies will come with a special colored case, and also a KORG mikroKEY2-37 so you can start playing right away!
