The McCarty family of guitars are born of passion and precision: built with passion to embody vintage detail and tone, but with the precision of PRS's modern manufacturing methods.

Whether you're after rich, authentic humbucker tones or nuanced, sweet single coil sounds, the McCarty Singlecut 594 can easily master both sonic territories thanks to the 58/15 LT+ pickups and push/pull coil-splitting controls on the tone controls. The electronics and craftsmanship add up to a guitar that holds tune, tones across the entire fretboard, and feels like a guitar you've had your whole life.

The McCarty Singlecut 594 has been carefully designed to provide a familiar feel and warm, classic tone, with its 22-fret, 24.594" scale, pattern vintage neck with frets, a slightly beefier body for better tone and sustain, and as mentioned 58 /15 LT+ pickups, which have now undergone the TCI (tuned capacitance and inductance) process.

The guitar comes with a zinc stoptail bridge with brass saddles and pins for added resonance, and vintage-style tuning screws.

“One of my sayings is that everything that touches the string is God – well, that's really the bridge, the nut, and the tuners. The updates to the McCarty family make a huge difference in their tone. The guitar sustains longer and the tone has more character.” - Paul Reed Smith

In the late 80s, Paul Reed Smith contacted the legendary Ted McCarty to consult him on guitar design and manufacturing methods. He became not only a mentor but also a very good friend to Paul and to everyone he came into contact with at PRS. In 1994, PRS introduced the first McCartyn, an instrument that embodied all the techniques and knowledge Paul had gained from Ted, as well as his own experiences as a guitar builder.
