JS3CR. Chrome Joe Satriani "Chrome Boy". Made in Japan.

The JS model, which has been Joe Satriani's main instrument for many years now, is a bit of an odd bird in the Ibanez range. With a slightly different neck profile and playing feel for Ibanez, it's a guitar that differs somewhat from what Ibanez usually makes. The playing feel can perhaps be described as modern vintage (it's quite obvious where he got his inspiration from when playing a JS).

A guitar where it is obvious that Joe thought about tone, playing comfort, width and more tone. The JS model is simply a very appealing tone machine in terms of playing. The Chrome Boy is without a doubt the most iconic JS model ever. The early ones, which had the problem of the chrome surface falling off and discolouring, have become insanely expensive collector's items.

The stand-in pickup is Joe's new DiMarzio® Satchur8 ™, an Alnico 8 based pickup with responsive midrange, full but clear bass and a warm, singing treble.
A perfect pickup for width and lead. The necklace is an old stalwart in Joe's guitars, a DiMarzio PAF Pro.

The bridge is the Ibanez classic EDGE, a well-proven swing of absolute top quality that has become the model for function and durability of floating bridge. Considered by many to be the market's best lockable swing system. Knife-suspended stable with a fantastically soft and supple playing feel. With a little simple maintenance and common sense handling, it will last a lifetime (our life, not the stable's). Swing arm mount that works with the UTA20 Ultralite Tremolo Arm™
