D'Addario XL ProSteels are an uncut spun steel string on a solid hexagonal steel core. The string's most prominent features are the clear, open and harmonically rich treble in combination with the tight and clear bass. These properties provide a string that noticeably improves string separation when playing chords and clear note separation when playing riffs and solos. Metal alloy gives the string a bit more magnetism, which means it has a bit more output, as well as holding the tone longer than a standard nickel plated string. ProSteels are for those who play down-tuned or with a lot of distortion and need separation and/or a more distinct sound. Also a great string for baritone guitarists and for those who want to revive a tired hollowbody. Also available in loose strings.
