This is a string constructed from the same material as their popular EXL series, i.e. a nickel-plated spinning on a hexagonal core.

The big difference is that after the spinning process, each strand is polished in 3 steps to get a uniquely smooth and even surface. It produces a mellow tone that is much loved by jazz musicians. Pat Metheny and John Scofield both use D'Addario Chrome strings on their Ibanez signature guitars.
