Ibanez calls the series "Iron Label - metal to the core" and that is exactly what the Iron Label series is all about, guitars optimized for what modern metal demands from a guitar. The heaviest sounding guitars out there. Having said that, it's obviously not the case that the guitars implode if you play anything other than metal on them, you can play anything on them.
The RGIXL7 is a 7-string guitar with an extra long scale, 27", providing extra stability in the strings in the lower registers.
The neck has a Nitro Wizard profile, is made of maple and Purpleheart, with a Macassar ebony fingerboard.
The body is from Nyatoh and with Fusion Edge pickups from DiMarzio.
The clear top means that it cuts well through thick sound mats without becoming thin or sharp. Chords and riff playing become snappy and respond quickly with great separation and melody/solo playing becomes attacking and clear and it is easy to distinguish all notes even in fast lines (as long as the technique does not limp of course).
Stable: Gibraltar Standard II-7
The stable is a Gibraltar Standard II, a solid and stable stable made of classic stucco. Very good transmission of string vibrations to the body for maximum sustain and tone. The entire surface of the stand is completely smooth and there is nothing that sticks into the hand when playing or that gets in the way when playing muted riffs.
