Axion Label can best be described as a branch of the Iron Label tree, guitars built primarily for metal and hard rock. Axion Label is more looking to the future in, for example, new types of pickups, looks, etc. while Iron Label is more grounded in traditional looks. Guitars designed for those who want to play heavy music and need tools specially designed for it. Of course, you can play more than metal on the instruments, you can play everything on them.
The RG631ALF is lacquered in a really delicious color that changes depending on the angle you look at it from. It gives a polish with a great depth and an almost hypnotic feeling to look at.
The series has Sub-Zero treated band rods, which simply put are specially treated and hardened rods that get properties very similar to stainless bands.
Common to the series is also that they have luminencent side dots, luminescent band markings, on the upper side of the neck. Something you probably don't fully understand the benefit of until you've stood on a stage in pitch darkness and can't see which band you're putting your hand on. Truly an absolutely fantastic little invention.
The series features a further development of Ibanez's famous Wizard necks called the Nitro Wizard. The 6 and 7 string models have a 3-piece Panga Panga/Walnut construction which is a road-tested construction that has taken stability to a new level.
The guitar has a Nyatoh body, a slightly lighter wood with a slightly more prominent treble and a fast rap attack. The base is firm and clear which makes it tight with good separation. The clear top means that it cuts well through thick sound mats without becoming thin or sharp. Chords and riff playing become snappy and respond quickly with great separation and melody/solo playing becomes attacking and clear and it is easy to distinguish all notes even in fast lines (as long as the technique does not limp of course).
The body is an RG in an exciting finish. The model is equipped with Fishman Fluence Modern humbuckers with Voice changing mini-toggle switch.
