The ATZ10P is the Premium version of Andy Timmons' signature model ATZ100. That the model is a guitar where it is quite obvious where Andy got his influences for the guitar from. With its, for Ibanez, different neck profile and playing feel, it is just like the JS models a bit of an odd bird in the range. With a slightly rounder and thicker neck profile and slightly narrower neck width, it has a completely different playing feel than for example the RG has, it is much more reminiscent of a 70s model of those guitars that start with S from a manufacturer that starts with F.
The ATZ10P has a Premium neck and fingerboard in roasted/baked maple. The wood is roasted in a vacuum oven, which drives all liquid and resin out of the wood, making it extremely stable if almost completely insensitive to weather and humidity. Sonically and stylistically, it is an extremely broad chameleon, just like the guitarist whose name it bears. Whatever style of music you play and whatever kind of sound you're looking for, the guitar will deliver what you're looking for. The pickups in the guitar are DiMarzio Crusier in the neck and middle and an AT-1 (Andy's signature mic) in the bridge. Just put on any Andy record if you want to get a picture of what it can sound like.
One of the things that sets the ATZ10P apart from the ATZ100 is a different stall. The ATZ10P has a Wilkinson WV6-SB saddle instead of the Wilkinson-Gotoh VSVG saddle that sits on the ATZ100. With its 1-layer plectrum cover, discreet sunburst lacquer and its stylish 1-piece neck, it is a guitar with a fairly neutral visual impression, an impression that is certainly not repeated in sound and playing feel.
A dream guitar for someone who wants an easy-to-play and robust workhorse that both visually and sonically fits in everywhere, no matter what you play.
