The AR520 is Ibanez's classic Artist series with a twist.
The instrument is a semi-hollow AR design which gives it a sound somewhere between a solid electric plank and a 335 style guitar. It also makes the instrument very much lighter (weight), which in turn makes it comfortable and pleasant to play. An incredibly broad instrument in terms of sound that can easily go with you to whatever type of gig you have.
Artist was one of the first original design series Ibanez made and it hit the market back in 1974 and has come and gone since then. The series is still a very popular model and many of the older ones have become sought after objects by collectors.
Body: Okoume/Maple Top.
Okoume is a wood with sound characteristics on the warmer side with a clear and prominent mid-range, extremely similar in character to mahogany. Maple, which in addition to often looking absolutely fantastic, has a prominent, clean and snappy, treble. Often to the point that a body entirely in maple becomes too bright. But the combination of Okoume and maple gives you fantastic sound properties where the different types of wood complement each other perfectly.
Pickups: Ibanez classic Super 58 with 2 Tri-Sound switches
Super 58 are PAF type medium output humbuckers, simply traditional vintage tone.
The tri-tone switches (one per mic) allow access to series/parallel/coil-tap on each mic.
This means that the guitar is capable of lots of sound possibilities.
