Hagström Super Swede Bass was designed in 1980 by Hagström and Abbas bassist Rutger Gunnarsson, and became instantly iconic. Only 364 examples were built before Hagström ended operations in Älvdalen and today it is rare to see any examples on the used market. The new Hagström Super Swede Bass Mahogany Gloss is built according to the old drawings but also with new technology. The fingerboard is made of a composite material that feels and sounds like the finest ebony board, and the humbucker pickups are Hagström's latest innovation, the stacked J-Quads. The tone in the bass is like a piano, long sustain and precise attack with an emphasis on midrange and bottom when you need to push and get a really awesome bass sound. We think the Hagström Super Swede Bass Mahogany Gloss is a very good, affordable bass and a nice tribute to our old customer and friend Rutger Gunnarsson.
