GWB25TH-SWF. Silver Wave Burst Flat Gary Willis 25th Anniversary signature Fretless bass with gig bag.
The GWB25TH is an anniversary model from Ibanez for the collaboration with phantom bassist Gary Willis, probably best known for his many years of collaboration with Scott Hendersson in their joint band Tribal Tech.
Gary is known for an innovative and "own" fretless playing conveyed with an unmatched intonation, an astonishing groove and a big and fat singing sound. The GWB has been in the Ibanez range since the late nineties and has been a very popular model since day one. A special bass for a special bassist.
They have several distinctive features such as Gary's specially designed, and removable, finger ramp. It is a wooden ramp that lies between the body and the strings, from the pick up to the neck, to prevent the fingers from digging too deep between the strings in order to play with a smoother and more controlled touch. Gary has a very special right hand technique where he plays with all the fingers of the hand and uses the ramp as a guide rail or navigation point for the hand. It also works as an excellent thumb rest for normal finger play.
