Snare drum, 14"x4.5" body made of four layers of spruce, two inner layers of maple and Focus ring on the striking side of the body.
Peter Erskine is a true Jazz Master but his swirl has qualities that transcend all genres. The unique frame is made in Japan from 4-ply spruce and 2 inner layers of maple. The body's strike side has a Sound Focus Ring that boosts the warm bottom register, while the beat side has been left without a ring to give an open and crisp beat sound.
Why Jazz Master? Peter Erskine believes that the drum set was originally a jazz instrument, just like the "Jazz bass" it is now used in a number of different genres. The same ambition and versatility can be found in the Jazz Master. The collaboration with Tama's designers has been going on for a long time, tests with different materials and phasing have led to one of Tama's most unique snare drums.
